Use the simple hydraulics and waterworks calculator to calculate height of wave action. The height of waves above pool level plus the run-up of waves on the face of the dam may be computed by the formula Height of wave action = (0.75 * hw) + [ (V2 / g) * 1.5 * hw ].

Formula:

Height of wave action = (0.75 × hw) + [ (V2 / g) × 1.5 × hw ]

where,
  • hw - Height of wave from trough to crest
  • V - Wind velocity
