How to Calculate Prime Mover HP for Motor?

Assumes High Slip (NEMA D) Motor. BPD = 217 @ 1--% Pump Efficiency, Depth = 5600 feet, Pump Setting.

HP = [217 x 5600] / 56000 = 21.7 (Use 25 HP motor)

Calculate Prime Mover Horsepower

Multiply HP by 0.8 for Mark II units.

Formula:

HP = [BPD × Depth] ÷ Motor Type

where,
BPD = Barrels per Day
Depth = Pump Setting (feet)
