Compound Pendulum Calculator
Posted by Dinesh onOnline compound pendulum calculator to calculate compound pendulum time period of an object from the mass value.
What is Compound Pendulum?
A rigid body with distributed mass able to freely pivot about a horizontal axis, which does not coincide with the center of gravity is called a compound pendulum. Any object mounted on a horizontal axis so as to oscillate under the force of gravity is a compound pendulum. The natural frequency of a compound pendulum depends on its moment of inertia. The appropriate equivalent length for calculating the period ( or ordinary frequency) of any such pendulum is the distance from the pivot to the center of oscillation.

Formula:
where,
I is the rotational inertia of the pendulum about the axis of suspension
M is the pendulum mass
h is the distance between the suspension point and the center of mass
g is the local acceleration of gravity (m/s2)
