Radiological Chest Volume Calculation
Formula:
RCV = M × Ad
where,M = Masured on the radiological film,
Ad = Anteroposterior diameter of the chest, and
RCV = Radiological Chest Volume
Calculation Example:
The area of the lung fields at full inspiration and measured on the radiological film is 608 cm².
The external anteroposterior diameter of the chest at the same respiratory position is 27.5 cm.
Therefore, the radiological chest volume is 608 X 27.5 = 16.72 liters.
